What’s up? Doc! A three year old Pit Bull-Labrador Retriever mix, Doc arrived on January 17th at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia. Doc’s nine-year-old mother Mookie and his sibling Sarge also arrived with him. While the family may have found shelter at the shelter, their lives were all on the line. Under the shelter’s policy, dogs are vulnerable to be euthanized at any time starting on the 11th day after their arrival.
Doc was very lucky when, on February 1st, Susan Davis and her Sophie’s Safe Haven Animal Rescue in Maryland agreed to take him. However, Mookie and Sarge were not so lucky, and were scheduled to be euthanized on February 6th. To spare the lives of both dogs, the shelter urged Susan to take them both. Susan decided to take the entire family!
Meanwhile, as an incentive for a rescue to take Mookie, on February 2nd RADAR had provided an offer to assist with her vetting costs. However, when we found out that Susan also agreed to take both of Mookie’s children, we extended our offer to cover all three dogs! Doc received his initial vetting on February 18th. The family was transported to Maryland on February 22nd. To see more photos of Doc, click here.
RADAR paid all $68 of Doc’s initial vetting costs.
