In the words of Van Morrison’s classic hit song, “Oh-oh, Domino!” This three to four-year-old Pit Bull mix arrived at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina way back on February 28th. Domino was surrendered to the shelter by his owner. Despite his good looks and good demeanor, he lingered at the shelter month after month. He had three strikes against him: he was a mostly black dog, he was a Pit Bull mix and he was heartworm positive.
On July 4th, RADAR was asked to help with Domino. The next day we provided an offer to cover the cost of his heartworm treatment as an incentive for a rescue to take him. But even with our offer and the endless networking efforts of so many, the weeks passed without any rescue interest. Finally, on August 21st, Northeastern Boxer Rescue in Massachusetts agreed to take Domino! He received his heartworm treatment on August 27th.
These are some of the things we learned about Domino: “I cannot stress enough what a good boy Domino is! He’s very wise, mature, even tempered and calm. Domino is very sweet, good with people, dogs and even cats. He loves attention and treats, and he is very gentle while pursuing both!” To see more photos of Domino, click here.
RADAR paid all $310 of Domino’s heartworm treatment costs.
