Golly gee, we think you’ll agree that Dupree is a deserving RADAR grantee! On January 15th, three-year-old Dupree, a 40-pound Hound-Shepherd mix, arrived as a stray at the Marlboro County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. The shelter is operated by the all-volunteer Humane Society of Marlboro County. Unfortunately, Dupree was yet another heartworm positive dog at this full shelter which struggles to keep up with the large number of dogs it receives who are heartworm positive.
On February 2nd, Peggy Kinahan with Pound Dog Found Dog Rescue in New Jersey reached out to RADAR for help. Her rescue would pull Dupree if we could assist with her heartworm treatment costs. We agreed and Dupree was safe! She completed her heartworm treatment on March 17th.
Peggy shared this with us about Dupree: “She is the sweetest, most easygoing foster and gets along wonderfully with other dogs including small feisty dogs and playful puppies. She loves people too! Her current foster has small children and she has been great with them. She is really the perfect family pet! She caught onto house training quickly and adores snoozing in her doggie bed. She is discovering toys, enjoying treats and life!” To see more photos of Dupree, click here.
RADAR paid all $252 of the heartworm treatment costs for Dupree.
