For the case with this dog, Sherlock Holmes could declare, “Ella-mentary, my dear Watson!” A Good Samaritan family found this one-year-old Boxer mix wandering around as a stray in Harrison County, West Virginia, on Friday night, June 8th. Since the county’s animal control facility is not open weekends, the next morning the rescue group WV Pet in West Virginia stepped up to take Ella!
Because Ella is a larger dog and had a nasty-looking case of cherry eye in both eyes, had animal control taken her, she would have been euthanized as soon as her hold time was up. WV Pet immediately sought RADAR’s assistance for Ella’s cherry eye surgery, and we agreed to help.
Ella had her successful cherry eye surgery and spaying done on June 20th. Sheri Sanders with WV Pet shared this with us: “Even though she was very timid and scared when we first got her, she warmed up to us very fast. In no time at all, Ella was wagging her tail and taking treats from us!” To see more photos of Ella, click here.
RADAR paid all of Ella’s cherry eye surgery and spaying costs of $226.
UPDATE! From Ella’s foster Mom (7/18), “She is awesome with children, we are working on house-training which is going well. She can sit and we are working on lay and stay, but it’s hard because she just wants to cuddle and play. All around a very sweet loving dog that would make any family complete. Give this girl a chance and she will steal your heart.”
UPDATE! Ella has been adopted!
