Like two peas in a pod, Ellie and her sister Mae are closely bonded. These six-month-old Hound-Lab mixes were surrendered to the Cleveland County Animal Control Services shelter in North Carolina on August 9th. When their former owner’s dog had puppies, he couldn’t find anyone to take these remaining two, so off they went to await their fate at this high-kill shelter.
On August 11th, Shellinda Hardie, the founder of Jericho’s Wish Animal Rescue in New Jersey, reached out to RADAR for help with Ellie and Mae. “I don’t want to split these two dogs up,” Shellinda told us. “We will make sure they have a wonderful home!” We agreed to help and both dogs were safely out of the shelter and off to the vet on August 14th.
“Both of the girls have a heart of gold and love to have their bellies rubbed,” Shellinda shared with us. “Both are cat and dog friendly. They are true sweethearts!” How does the rescue tell them apart? Ellie’s feet are completely black, while Mae has some white toes! Click here to view more photos of Ellie.
RADAR paid all of Ellie’s initial vetting costs, which totaled $145.
