Who wouldn’t have a fancy for Fancy? This approximately two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix arrived at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on March 28th. As with so many at-risk dogs, we don’t know how or why Fancy found herself in the shelter. The clock was ticking for Fancy since dogs are subject to being euthanized starting on their 11th day at the shelter.

On April 3rd, RADAR supporter and volunteer, Sherry Hutchison, contacted us to see if we could provide an assistance offer for Fancy as an incentive for a rescue to take her. We posted an offer the same day. The next day, Missions of Mercy Rescue in Pennsylvania, agreed to take Fancy! She was safely out of the shelter on April 5th.

Fancy received her initial vetting and spaying on April 8th. Unfortunately, she tested positive for Lyme disease, for which she is being treated. Her temporary foster says that Fancy can be a bit of an escape artist! To view more photos of Fancy, click here.

RADAR paid $150 directly to the vet towards Fancy’s initial vetting and spaying costs.

UPDATE! All funds for Fancy have been raised! Thank you!
