Flash was treated like trash by his backyard breeder owner, but his fate changed for the better on June 2nd. This two-year-old Boxer-Bully Breed mix was surrendered, along with his mother Fiona, to the Fairfield County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. Both dogs had long nails, were flea-ridden with dermatitis, had ear infections, urine scalding on their foot pads and were loaded with intestinal parasites. Worst of all, both dogs tested positive for deadly heartworms.
Samira Yaghi, the shelter’s Rescue Coordinator reached out to RADAR on June 12th, asking if we could help with the cost of the heartworm treatments for Flash and Fiona. The hope was that treating their heartworms would attract a rescue. We agreed to assist with both dogs. Flash had his back-to-back heartworm treatments on June 15th and 16th, the same days as his mother Fiona had hers!
When Flash was united at the shelter again with Fiona, they both were very happy to see each other. Despite his poor treatment by his past owner, Flash is very sweet and has a wonderful smile. Samira is going to find Flash and Fiona rescues so they can live out the rest of their lives loved and cared for, now that they are healthy and heartworm-free! Be sure to view more photos in Flash’s gallery.
RADAR paid all of Flash’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $326.
UPDATE! Flash and Fiona both had a confirmed rescue on June 22nd with East Coast Canine Rescue in Connecticut, and were transported to rescue on June 26th!
UPDATE! All funds for Flash have been raised! Thank you!
