Frederick, a handsome two to three-year-old owner surrender, had little to do at the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina but eat, sleep and paw through catalogs. One day he saw a catalog that bore his name: Frederick’s of Hollywood! The many fetching outfits made him drool. Fetching, you see, is Frederick’s favorite pastime. He saw how much attention he could get if he were a Chippendale. But alas, he was a Boxer-Bulldog mix.

Frederick is an otherwise adoptable dog who was not allowed on the adoption floor because he tested positive for heartworms. His only way out of the shelter alive would be if a rescue pulled him. Mary Lou Seymour of The Heart Beat Goes On program fell hard for Frederick’s “come-hither” look, and determined to locate a venue where he could bust his moves. On April 29th Mary Lou asked RADAR if we could assist with the cost of Frederick’s heartworm treatment. Purr-Fect Match Animal Rescue in Wisconsin would pull Frederick IF funding for his treatment were available. We agreed, and on April 30th Frederick was go-go dancing for joy!

Frederick received his heartworm treatment on May 7th. Caregivers describe him as quiet, friendly and slow to warm up, but once he gets to know you, his waggy tail doesn’t have an “off” switch! To view more photos of Frederick, click here.

RADAR paid $250 towards Frederick’s heartworm treatment costs.
