A true Bully Breed belle, Gabrielle was surrendered by her previous owner to the Lee County Animal Services shelter in North Carolina on February 6th. This three-year-old had lovely hazel eyes and a great personality, but the shelter was getting more and more crowded. When Gabrielle tested positive for heartworms, volunteers at the shelter were worried that Gabrielle might have a bell tolling for her if she wasn’t rescued soon. Her breed and the cost of treating her heartworms did not attract adopters or rescues.
Anna Cilento, founder and director of Suruluna Animal Rescue in New York State, sought RADAR’s help on February 29th. The rescue would be able to pull Gabrielle from the shelter if we could pay for Gabrielle’s heartworm treatment costs. With our funding, Gabrielle had her back-to-back heartworm treatments on April 10th and 11th.
“Gabrielle is sweet and affectionate,” Anna told us.”She absolutely loves people and is very good around children. She gets along well with other dogs. She is playful, fun and joyous. Gabrielle would be a great family dog and she is house-trained and crate-trained. Gabrielle is a great terrier mix who also loves chasing squirrels and small critters!” Be sure to view more photos in Gabrielle’s gallery.
RADAR paid all $284 of the heartworm treatment costs for Gabrielle.
