Right from the outset, and regardless of your mind-set, you’re gonna love little Georgette! A three to four-year-old Beagle mix, Georgette arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on February 27th. She had been picked up as a stray by animal control. As is usually the case, no one came looking for her. As cute and lovable as can be, Georgette had no adopter or rescue interest. Her cause was not helped by being heartworm positive. Georgette was placed on the shelter’s April 16th “Put To Sleep” list.
RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, contacted us on April 11th to see if we could provide an assistance offer to cover the heartworm treatment costs for Georgette. We agreed to provide the offer as an incentive for a rescue take her. Later that same day, One Life to Live Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania agreed to take Georgette! She received her heartworm treatment on April 30th.
Susan had this tell us about Georgette: “What a great little beagle! She’s fun, friendly and looking for a lap! Georgette is your sunshine on a rainy day. She is your sanity pill when you need your straight jacket. She is such a little love bug! She’s totally terrific with other dogs, and a best friend to everyone she meets. She’s very sociable and interactive, and always ready to go places and do things. Georgette is so cute and so happy!” To view more photos of Georgette, click here.
RADAR paid all $164 of the heartworm treatment costs for Georgette.
