Presenting Georgina: the dog, the problem and the solution.
The dog. Georgina is a one- to two-year-old German Shepherd mix who is known for her strikingly good looks and her friendly nature. She tested well with both female and male dogs at the shelter, being very nonreactive, but she does like to chase a cat or two. She was a wonderful mother to her three little puppies. The problem. Georgina and her pups were picked as strays by animal control on November 15th. They were taken to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Not surprisingly, Georgina tested positive for heartworms. On December 24th, To Love A Canine Rescue in Southeast Pennsylvania expressed interest in taking Georgina and her pups. There was just one hitch: the cost of her heartworm treatment.
The Solution. RADAR to the rescue! Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, immediately turned to us for our help. How could we say ‘no’ on Christmas Eve? We agreed at once, enabling the entire family to get their rescue commitment! Georgina had her heartworm treatments on January 15th.
RADAR paid all of Georgina’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $272.
