Gianni is a big and brawny Rottweiler-Labrador Retriever mix. This two-year-old was brought into the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on June 21st as a stray. His gentle nature belied his big size but this sweet happy guy ended up on the urgent list. His heartworm positive status discouraged adopters and rescues alike. And at eighty-seven pounds, his heartworms would cost more to treat!
Luckily, Gianni had Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, in his corner. To Love A Canine Rescue in Pennsylvania would rescue Gianni but his heartworm problem needed to be fixed first. Susan asked RADAR if we would help on September 8th. We committed to Gianni and he completed his heartworm treatment on September 24th.
Gianni wants all to know that he is a big boy looking for love. He says “the bigger the dog, the bigger the heart and the more love it can hold!” He enjoys being petted and is playful and good with other dogs. He walks well on a leash and has learned commands quickly. Check out all that Gianni has to offer; pound for pound, he’s one great guy! Click here to view more photos of Gianni.
RADAR paid all of Gianni’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $429.
UPDATE! All funds for Gianni have been raised! Thank you!
