What’s the connection between Gibson and Elvis? Yes, Elvis sang “You ain’t nothin’ but a Hound dog” and Gibson is a Hound dog mix, but Elvis also had a Gibson guitar! A four-year-old Beagle mix, Gibson was surrendered to the Chesterfield County Animal Services shelter in South Carolina on September 16th. It was bad enough that Gibson tested heartworm positive, but all the worse when the shelter went on code red status on October 1st. With no room to spare, Gibson was in dire danger of being euthanized.

On October 2nd, Kathie Weinberg of Home Sweet Home Animal Rescue in New Jersey made an urgent request to RADAR. She would commit to pulling Gibson if we would commit to assisting with his heartworm treatment costs. We agreed and Gibson was safe! He went to a temporary foster home. Gibson received his heartworm treatment on October 26th.

Kathie shared this with us about Gibson: “Abby, his foster mom, describes Gibson as very loving. He is well-mannered and gets along great with her toddler and other dog. He loves to be on the couch with her snuggled in her lap!” To view more photos of Gibson, click here.

RADAR paid all of Gibson’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $185.
