Just as ginger is a great spice, this Ginger is a great dog! But when her owner posted both Ginger and Monroe on Craigslist, the fate of the dogs was at risk of either getting an undesirable owner or being surrendered to the Marlboro County Animal Shelter in South Carolina.
Fortunately, DogGone Shelter Intervention in South Carolina saw the Craigslist posting and convinced the owner of Ginger and Monroe to surrendered them to DogGone Shelter Intervention on February 6th. Sadly, both dogs were heartworm positive. The group immediately started to seek a rescue for both dogs.
On March 16th, Kim Frigault and her Long Trail Canine Rescue in Vermont contacted us for help with Ginger and Monroe. If we could help with their heartworm treatment costs, the rescue would take both dogs. We agreed to assist.
“Ginger is great on a leash,” we were told. “Her nose is her friend as she hunts and digs for chipmunks and voles. She loves being with other dogs and humans. She is still a little skittish. However, the more comfortable she is with her surroundings, the less anxious she is. Ginger is the sweetest dog. She loves to run and play!” Click here to view more photos of Ginger.
RADAR paid all of Ginger’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $250.
UPDATE! All funds for Ginger have been raised! Thank you!
