Gordon Lightfoot is famous for his song “If You Could Read My Mind.” Well, if you could have read this Gordon’s mind, it might have been “What did I do to deserve this?” About 10 years old and mostly deaf, this Bernese Mountain Dog mix was surrendered by his owners to the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on January 13th. As a larger, older and black dog, Gordon’s life was very much at risk at the shelter.
As an incentive for a rescue to take Gordon, on January 14th, RADAR provided an offer to assist with his vet care costs. On January 20th, Fetch Wisconsin Rescue in Wisconsin agreed to take Gordon! He was pulled from the shelter on January 23rd.
Gordon had his initial vetting and neutering done on January 24th. A volunteer at the shelter had this to share about Gordon: “He is a great old dog. He wouldn’t budge when I went see him and called his name. But when he heard my five-year-old granddaughter’s voice, he got up and turned around to see her. He licked her hand and took treats from her. Gordon seems so sweet!” To see more photos of Gordon, click here.
RADAR paid all of Gordon’s initial vetting and neutering costs totaling $228.
