Gracie

Greetings! I’m Gracie, an 18-month-old Lab mix who enjoys quiet time, long walks, and delicious food. After recently having puppies, I ended up at the Duplin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on July 30th after being found as a stray. I was happy to have a roof over my head and a warm place to sleep. And at just 30 pounds, I was overjoyed to get some food in my belly! While things were definitely looking up for me, I got some bad news. I was heartworm positive, which would make it tougher for me to be rescued or adopted.

Luckily for me, there were some wonderful people coming to my rescue so that I could get to safety! On August 1st, Karen Steers with Peak Lab Rescue in North Carolina contacted a group called RADAR to ask if they would help with the cost of my heartworm treatment. If so, the rescue would take me. And RADAR did just that! I got my heartworm treatments on November 1st and 2nd.

I have been described as a calm, sweet little girl! I would be a perfect fit for someone looking for those great Lab qualities in a smaller package. I am super friendly and give kisses to everyone I meet. I’m great with kids and other dogs. I love to snuggle and sleep the day away! To see more photos of me, click here!

RADAR paid all $298 of the heartworm treatment costs for Gracie.

UPDATE! Gracie has been adopted!
