Actress Greta Garbo was once quoted as saying this: “Is there anything better than to be longing for something, when you know it is within reach?” This Greta, a one-year-old Shepherd mix, was longing for a place to call her forever home after she was surrendered by her owner to the Darlington County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on July 12th. Unfortunately, it seemed like her wish was just out of reach when she ended up on the urgent list and found out that she was heartworm positive.
On October 12th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, asked if we could help with Greta. Furever Friends in Rochester, New York, expressed interest in pulling Greta from the shelter, but her heartworm treatment still needed funding. We agreed to assist, and she was safe! Greta received her treatment on November 14th, which put her one step closer to making her wish come true.
Susan told us this about Greta: “Greta was a shy gal when she first arrived, but the volunteers report that she has warmed up a great deal and has now shown that she’s friendly and sweet! She is good with other friendly dogs, kitties, and children as well. Greta is an all-around great girl who could easily fit into any home!” Click here to view more photos of Greta.
RADAR paid all of Greta’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $371.
It is only with your help that we can cover our costs of helping Greta. Please donate to her Fund now!
