If this dog could talk and we quoted her, it would be a Halley’s Comment! This two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog-Collie mix arrived as a stray at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on April 8th. Despite her adorable looks, wonderful demeanor and compact size, there was no interest in Halley. The problem was an all-too-common one: Halley was heartworm positive. As the weeks passed, her chances of getting out of the shelter alive faded. And sure enough, she ended up on the dreaded “Put To Sleep” list.
The volunteers with the Darlington County Humane Society urgently searched for a rescue to take her. With time fleeting, All 4 Paws Rescue in Pennsylvania offered to take Halley if her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society volunteers, sought our assistance. We committed to cover the cost of Halley’s heartworm treatment, which took place on May 9th. Susan had this to share with us about Halley: “She is sweet, doting and low key. Halley loves other dogs. She is very polite, gentle and affectionate!” Click here to view more photos of Halley.
RADAR paid all of Halley’s $197 heartworm treatment costs.
