Harmon was in harm’s way, not once, but twice. A two to three-year-old Bully Breed-Labrador Retriever mix, Harmon had been cruelly used by his owner as a bait dog. When his owner was arrested last fall, Harmon was held at the prison as well. On March 14th Harmon arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina when he was transferred from the prison to the pound. Finally safe from the horrors of being a bait dog, Harmon now faced being euthanized at the shelter. Testing heartworm positive only limited his chances of getting adopted or rescued. On April 8th he was placed on the shelter’s “put to sleep” list for April 15th.
On April 8th RADAR provided an offer to cover Harmon’s heartworm treatment costs as an incentive for a rescue to take him. Just in time, on April 15th, Tiny Miracles Farm Rescue in Pennsylvania lived up to its name and agreed to take Harmon with RADAR’s help! He received his heartworm treatment on May 5th.
We were told this about Harmon: “He is the happiest dog in the world! Harmon is always smiling, and happy to meet anyone and everyone. Harmon may have had an awful start to life, but he doesn’t let the past stand in the way of his future! Harmon still loves people and dogs even though he was failed by humans and hurt by his canine companions in the past. Instead of meeting dogs with fear he promptly walks up and gives them a big smooch! Harmon is ready to start fresh, and live his life to the fullest. The happiest dog in the world is ready for his second chance at life!” To view more photos of Harmon, click here.
RADAR paid all of Harmon’s heartworm treatment costs, totaling $252.
