Hero desperately needed some real heroes to save his life. This two-year-old Carolina Dog mix was on death row at the Vance County Animal Control shelter in Henderson, NC. Even worse, this facility still uses a barbaric gas chamber for euthanizing. It was bad enough that Hero had a collar embedded his neck, but he was also diagnosed as being heartworm positive. The only hope for Hero getting out of this shelter alive was if a rescue would pull him. Because of the extra expense a rescue would have for treating his heartworm, it greatly reduced the odds of a rescue taking Hero. In response to an urgent request on August 22nd from the volunteers at Middle Mutts, RADAR committed to provide $100 towards Hero’s vet care as an incentive for a rescue to save him.
The Husky House rescue in New Jersey was the hero who saved Hero! He arrived safely in New Jersey, and received his vetting and heartworm treatment on September 5th and 6th. The cost was $431. Donors to Husky House provided $331, and RADAR paid the remaining $100.
Now you too can be a hero by helping RADAR cover its $100 payment towards Hero’s vet costs.
UPDATE! Hero has been adopted!
