Once you hear Holly’s moving story, you might be moved to call her Holly-lujah! This two-year-old Pit Bull mix arrived at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina on April 15th. But Holly did not arrive alone; she had her four two-week-old puppies with her! As a mother with pups, a Pit Bull mix and heartworm positive, Holly had some high hurdles ahead of her.
The shelter wanted Holly and her pups to stay together, and to get out of the shelter and into a rescue ASAP. Pledges to the shelter were offered to help. On April 27th, a rescue agreed to take Holly and her pups. In preparation for the rescue taking Holly, she had her heartworm treatment done on May 31st. But then things went terribly wrong. On June 28th, the shelter reported that the rescue took the four pups and the pledge money, but not Holly. And, the shelter was left with Holly and her $250 heartworm treatment bill.
An urgent plea went out to save Holly, and in response, RADAR offered to assist. On July 1st, Knick Knack Pittie Pack in Pennsylvania, with RADAR’s financial assistance, agreed to take Holly! She had her spaying done on July 10th, and received follow-up vetting on July 18th. Holly is now finally out of the shelter and in quarantine at a boarding facility. She will then be transported to her rescue. Click here to view more photos of Holly.
RADAR paid all of Holly’s heartworm treatment, vetting and spaying costs of $339.
