Hutto was hurt and needed help. It is believed that this four- to five-month-old Bully Breed mix and his brother were thrown from a car onto the side of the road near a farm in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. It’s unclear if these pups were also hit by a car soon after. Sadly, Hutto’s brother did not survive. Hutto was found on December 14th huddled in the cold rain with his deceased brother.
Lakeside Animal Rescue in South Carolina received a call that morning about the pups and they wanted to help Hutto, but needed some financial assistance. Unfortunately, Hutto suffered radial nerve damage in his front leg. The leg was now dead and needed to be amputated. On December 14th, the rescue asked RADAR for a funding grant towards Hutto’s amputation costs. We agreed to help. The rescue’s vet felt it was best to wait a few weeks, so that Hutto could get accustomed to walking on three legs. His leg amputation took place on January 7th.
Hutto quickly adjusted to three legs. He has discovered toys and enjoys bringing them right to you. Hutto is a very sweet boy and will make a wonderful companion for any family! Click here to view more photos of Hutto.
RADAR paid $250 toward Hutto’s amputation costs.
