Ivey is in a league of her own, which makes her an Ivey League dog! This one to two-year-old Pit Bull-Terrier mix arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on November 14th. But she did not arrive alone. Ivey had seven recently-born puppies with her! Animal control brought the entire stray family to the shelter. Fortunately, a temporary foster was found immediately.

While To Love a Canine Rescue in Pennsylvania was interested in taking Ivey and all her pups, there was one problem: Ivey was heartworm positive and the rescue could not afford the treatment cost. On December 23rd, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, requested our assistance. On the eve of Christmas Eve, how could we resist? Of course we agreed, and Ivey was safe!

On January 21st, Ivey received her heartworm treatment. Susan told us this about Ivey: “She’s a sleek and sexy strawberry blonde! Ivey quickly regained her shapely and taut figure after giving birth. She’s a lovely lady!” Click here to see more photos of Ivey.

RADAR paid all of Ivey’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $241.
