Iya deserves to be the apple of someone’s eye! This three-year-old Lab mix was found tied to a crepe myrtle tree outside the Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (MAMAS) shelter in Bamberg County in South Carolina early in the morning on August 16th. She was left there after hours without a note or any clues about where she’d come from. But one thing was for sure: Iya was heartworm positive.

On September 2nd, Ruthie Rish, the shelter director at MAMAS, contacted RADAR about Iya. “Upon intake, we found that she was heartworm positive,” Ruthie said, “She deserves a better shot in life.” We agreed to cover Iya’s heartworm treatment so that she would be ready for a rescue or adopter. She received her treatment on September 4th.

“Iya is a sweet dog, “Ruthie shared with us. “She’s friendly with people and other dogs.  She has all the characteristics that would make her a wonderful friend, companion, and family member.” Click here to view more photos of Iya.

RADAR paid all of Iya’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $270.
