Jackie’s had quite the journey. This three-year-old male Treeing Walker Coonhound was an emaciated starving stray who was found by a Good Samaritan. The kind person kept Jackie for a month, nursing him back to a healthier weight while trying to find Jackie’s owners. With no one coming forward to claim Jackie and unable to keep him herself, she reached out to De Anna and her Advocates for Shelter Animals of Pocahontas Co., WV (ASAP) for help. ASAP courtesy-posted Jackie on their Facebook page and in emails to rescues. Despite Jackie being a very good dog, there was no interest. On July 3rd Jackie was admitted to the Pocahontas County Animal Control shelter in West Virginia.
With nearly three months passing without any interest in Jackie, on September 29th De Anna asked for RADAR’s assistance. De Anna hoped that getting Jackie vetted and neutered would enhance his appeal to an adopter or rescue. We agreed. Jackie had his initial vetting done and was neutered on October 27th.
“Jackie is a very handsome, very nice, and very lovely boy!” De Anna told us. “He is great with humans of all sizes and good with other dogs. He would be the ideal versatile companion for a person or family who enjoys outdoor activities as well as quiet, snuggle time on the couch. Jackie has a very sweet personality. In short, he’d make a very nearly perfect companion!” To view more photos of Jackie, click here.
RADAR paid all of Jackie’s initial vetting and neutering costs, which totaled $129.
