It took one Jackie to help save another Jackie! It was shelter animal advocate Jackie West who contacted us about Jackie on March 12th. A two-year-old Pit Bull mix, Jackie had arrived at the Rocky Mount Animal Shelter in Nash County, North Carolina on March 10th. However, she did not arrive alone. She had seven of her eight-week-old pups with her! While getting a rescue for the pups would be relatively easy, it would be much more difficult for Jackie. She had to have a rescue commitment by 9 pm on March 16th or be euthanized.

In response to Jackie West’s RADAR request, we provided an offer to assist with Jackie’s vetting costs in order to encourage a rescue to take her. The funding would be all the more helpful since Jackie also had a protruding left eye that would require prompt veterinary care. With only a few hours to spare, Adopt Me Animal Rescue in Wisconsin agreed to take Jackie and her pups!

During Jackie’s initial vetting on March 22nd, the vet determined that she had a lot of pain in her left eye, and was blind in that eye due to glaucoma. Sadly, the eye needed to be removed. The eye removal surgery and spaying took place the next day, March 23rd. Jackie is doing fine now and feeling better. Jackie is described as being very sweet and good with other dogs. RADAR paid $200 towards the spaying and eye removal surgery costs for Jackie..
