Even though Jade is a gem, she was feeling jaded after spending so many months with her life on the line. This two to three three-year-old Rat Terrier mix arrived as a stray at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina way, way back on August 8th. While Jade was initially able to stay in a temporary foster home, when the foster was no longer able to keep her, Jade ended up back at the shelter and tested heartworm positive.

Thanks to some new photos taken of Jade by Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Puppy Paws Rescue in Maryland agreed to take Jade on March 4th. The only challenge was getting Jade’s heartworm treatment done first. When Susan contacted us to see if we could help, we agreed immediately. On April 8th, Jade had her heartworm treatment done.

Susan had this to tell us about Jade: “She has a lot of energy and lots of love to give! She does great with dogs and cats of all sizes, and would do great in a home with kids who love to play. She likes to run around with toys and explore the backyard. She has had multiple litters. Jade is very sweet!” Click here to view more photos of Jade.

RADAR paid all of Jade’s heartworm treatment costs totaling $101.
