This Jagger, like Mick Jagger, is getting on in years. But just as Mick still plays with the Rolling Stones, this Jagger still plays with rolling bones! Estimated to be about nine years old, Jagger is a Cocker Spaniel mix who arrived as a stray at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on June 11th. He had severe skin issues and was diagnosed with Sarcoptic mange, necessitating him to be quarantined for 10 days. As an older and black dog in an overcrowded rural shelter, Jagger’s life was at great risk.
On August 23rd Karol Gordon, RADAR’s liaison for the shelter, requested our help for Jagger, who was listed as #2 on the shelter’s euthanasia list. As an incentive for a rescue to take Jagger, we provided an offer to assist with his veterinary costs. On September 10th Reach Out Rescue & Resources in Maryland agreed to take Jagger! He was neutered and had a cyst removed on October 8th.
The rescue described Jagger this way: “Sweet, loving, mellow and laid-back, Jagger will be a perfect best friend and family dog. He is extra friendly and loves everyone, including other dogs and even cats. He has an advanced degree in knowing how to be a good dog! If you are looking for an easy guy with whom to have fun, go on walks, play in the backyard, or chill with in the evenings, Jagger is for you. Whatever you want to do, well, it’s fine with him. He is so easy to love. It goes without saying that he will give you his whole heart forever and ever.” To view more photos of Jagger, click here.
RADAR paid $200 towards Jagger’s neutering and cyst surgery costs.
