Jamey

Because Jamey’s jaw was broken, his story is literally jaw-dropping. On January 8th, Jamey was picked up as a stray by law enforcement and taken to the Mary Ann Morris Animal Shelter (MAMAS) in Bamberg County, South Carolina. The three to four-year-old Bully Breed mix was in horrible condition. It was not certain if he was attacked by another dog, or injured another way, but his throat was actually ripped open. The bottom of his tongue was visible through a large hole in his neck. His wounds were infected and his jaw was broken. Jamey had to have emergency surgery to realign his jaw, which had to stay wired for several weeks. And just to add insult to his injuries, he was heartworm positive.

On March 1st, Ruthie Rish with MAMAS reached out to RADAR to see if we could cover his heartworm treatment costs. If so, Laura’s Hope Rescue in Pennsylvania would take this poor boy who had endured so much. Of course, we agreed to assist! “Jamey is a wonderful dog who, despite having a very rough start in life, remains sweet and good natured,” Ruthie told us.

Jamey received his heartworm treatment on March 6th and was transported to Laura’s Hope Rescue on March 10th. One of his transport volunteers, Cameron Jane, had this to share about Jamey: “He’s a super sweetie and beautiful! His markings are gorgeous as is his personality!” Another transport volunteer, Joan Minervino, who provided Jamey overnight lodging, told us this: “He’s such a really sweet boy. He was shy and reserved in the car. But when I got him home, he couldn’t stop waging his tail. He was so so happy! Thank you for helping him.” His rescue says that he has lots of energy and would love a home with a big yard to play! To see more photos of Jamey, click here.

RADAR paid all $279 of the heartworm treatment costs for Jamey.
