As you can plainly see, this Jane is no plain Jane! Six years old and a Yellow Labrador Retriever mix, Jane arrived at the Halifax County Animal Control shelter in North Carolina on March 28th. It was hard for anyone to believe that this great dog was surrendered to the shelter by her owner. On behalf of another rescue, RADAR supporter Jackie Stanley and Rainbow Animal Rescue of North Carolina pulled Jane on April 2nd. But then things took a wrong turn.

During Jane’s initial vetting she tested heartworm positive. When the rescue planning to take Jane found out, they were no longer willing to take her. Jackie scrambled to find another rescue. Fortunately, Peak Lab Rescue (formerly known as Moore Labs Rescue) in North Carolina stepped forward to take Jane. However, they could only do so if Jane could get her first heartworm treatment injection funded. Jackie contacted us, and we agreed to assist.

Jane received her first heartworm treatment on April 9th. Then she was off to Peak Lab Rescue. Next thing you know, Jane’s adopted! We were told this about Jane: “She’s always so happy. She loves to dance with you when you visit her!” To see more photos of Jane, click here.

RADAR paid $97 towards Jane’s heartworm treatment costs.
