Jasper means “keeper of the treasure” in Persian. And this Jasper is both a keeper and a dog to treasure! Two years old and a German Shepherd mix, Jasper was surrendered to the Chesterfield County Animal Services shelter in South Carolina on November 14th. Jasper was understandably very scared to be at the shelter. He would have been even more upset had he realized he had heartworms.

On November 17th, Melissa Bielawski with Ollie’s Angels Animal Rescue in New York reached out to RADAR for help with Jasper. Melissa was interested in pulling Jasper if we would assist with his heartworm treatment costs. “We’d like to help him,” Melissa said. “He just needs a chance, and the heartworm treatment will save his life.” We agreed to help.

Jasper had his heartworm treatment done on January 10th and 11th. “He is a very sweet, loving and happy dog,” we were told. “He has came such a long way. At first he was scared to walk on a leash. He also is gaining weight. He just loves everybody and all the other critters. He will make a wonderful family member.” To see more photos of Jasper, click here.

RADAR paid $250 towards the heartworm treatment costs for Jasper.
