Jayson is so much more interesting in person (or in ‘dog-son!’) than his first pictures online might indicate. He was a skinny stray when he arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter on January 7th. This one- to two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix was happy to have some good meals in the shelter and gained almost ten needed pounds. He was sweet and friendly but had a big issue that landed him on the urgent list: he was heartworm positive.
On March 19th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue contacted us about Jayson. Worthy Dog Rescue in Virginia wanted to rescue him, but needed assistance with the cost of his heartworm treatment. We agreed to help the very same day, and Jayson finished his heartworm treatment on April 2nd.
Now that Jayson is heartworm free, he wants everyone to know about him: “Ready to have a good time? It’s hard to not smile with Jayson by your side. This fellow loves to mix with crowds of people and other dogs. Never meeting a stranger, Jayson is eager to say ‘hi’ with the hopes of finding a new playmate or simply a new friend. Always up for belly rubs and then thanking his human friend with gentle face kisses, Jayson is one happy, affectionate fellow with just enough play and bounce in him to keep everyone smiling!” To see more photos of Jayson, click here.
RADAR paid all of $249 of the heartworm treatment costs, for Jayson.
