On August 4th, Jazz arrived for a second time at the Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (MAMAS) shelter in Bamberg County, South Carolina. Jazz was at MAMAS several years ago, and was adopted out to a local resident. But now he was back. One story was that it was because of his owner’s health. Another story was that his owner was moving. Who knows what the real story is. What we do know is that Jazz, a six-year-old Bully Breed mix, had heartworms.
On September 28h, Ruthie Rich with MAMAS contacted RADAR, requesting a grant to help cover Jazz’s heartworm treatment. “He’s always happy and polite,” Ruthie said, “but because of his breed mix he is not easy to get placed. Getting him treated for his heartworms will help greatly. We will do everything we can to help him find a home again, and hopefully one that will keep him healthy and love him as he should be loved, for the rest of his life.” We agreed, and Jazz received his heartworm treatment on October 3rd.
“Jazz is amazing!” Ruthie told us. “He was great when he was with us the first time, and he still is. We can put any dog with Jazz; he is so stable. He is currently our dog who tells us if other dogs are nice! He’s our Mr. Congeniality!” Click here to view more photos of Jazz.
RADAR paid all of Jazz’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $180.
