Jeffrey needed help in a jiffy! This three to four-year-old Hound mix arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on October 3rd. Jeffrey was a skinny stray who tested heartworm positive. With no adopter or rescue interest, his fate seemed to be sealed on November 14th, when Jeffrey and five other dogs showed up on the “put to sleep” list for November 19th.
On November 14th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, reached out to us for help with Jeffrey. RADAR agreed to assist with Jeffrey’s heartworm treatment as an incentive for a rescue to take him. On November 19th, Home At Last Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take Jeffrey! He received his heartworm treatment on December 10th.
According to Susan, “Jeffrey is your go-to guy! Folks just really love him. Jeffrey is so very friendly and unflappable. He is perfectly suited to hang out with other dogs and folks of all ages. He has a carefree outlook on life, and can easily fit into just about any environment. Jeffrey has lots of love, kisses and tail wags that need to be shared with a family!” To see more photos of Jeffrey, click here.
RADAR paid all of the heartworm treatment costs for Jeffrey, which totaled $240.
