What this dog needed to hear was a rescue saying, “Gimme Jimmy!” A one-year-old Pit Bull mix, Jimmy arrived as a stray at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina on April 26th. As just another Pit Bull mix in a crowded rural shelter, Jimmy had no adopter or rescue interest. On June 12th, the shelter had an update that would not help Jimmy’s situation: he was heartworm positive.
In early August, and with Jimmy now urgent, RADAR was asked to help with Jimmy’s heartworm treatment costs. On August 10th we provided an offer to assist with the cost of his heartworm treatment as an incentive for a rescue to take him. On August 14th, South of the Bully Rescue in North Carolina agreed to take Jimmy! He received his heartworm treatment on September 2nd.
Here are some of the things we learned about Jimmy: “He is great with other dogs and okay with cats. He loves people, and would make a wonderful cuddle buddy on a stormy night. Jimmy also loves to take car rides – just open the door and he will get right in!” Click here to see more photos of Jimmy.
RADAR paid all $250 of Jimmy’s heartworm treatment costs.
UPDATE! All funds for Jimmy have been raised! Thank you!
