Perhaps JoeJoe should have be named Heinz (as in Heinz-sight, of course!). Not only has he been described as a total Heinz 57 Variety, but even his vet bill was $157! This four-year-old Elkhound-Shepherd-Beagle mix (along with 54 other breeds!) arrived as a stray on February 21st at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in Princeton, WV. Despite being as cute as can be, JoeJoe’s life was very much at risk at this shelter.
The Mercer County Volunteers, who are working tirelessly to save the dogs at this shelter, diligently networked JoeJoe. To help their efforts, and with time running out, on March 8th RADAR made an offer to help cover JoeJoe’s initial vetting costs as an incentive for a rescue to take him. Almost immediately, Houlagans’ Rest in Richmond, VA, agreed to take JoeJoe! Kelsey Glander, a volunteer with Houlagans’ Rest, an avid animal advocate, and a student at the same college where RADAR’s co-founders work, played a crucial role in saving JoeJoe.
On March 28th JoeJoe had his initial vetting and neutering done. Luckily, he tested heartworm negative. JoeJoe’s temporary foster mom says he is a total sweetie, and that he likes dogs, cats, kids and even chickens! Click here to view more photos of JoeJoe.
RADAR paid all of JoeJoe’s initial vetting and neutering costs of $157.
