You don’t need a pair Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan sneakers to be jumping for joy for Jordyn! This one-year-old Labrador Retriever mix arrived at the Sampson County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on June 12th. It looked like Jordyn would be quickly on her way to an interested rescue. But that all changed when she tested heartworm positive and the rescue decided to pass on her. The combination of being a black dog and heartworm positive put Jordyn at risk.

On July 3rd, Leslie Lewis with Sampson County Friends For Animals asked RADAR to assist Jordyn. As an incentive for a rescue to take her, we offered to help with Jordyn’s heartworm treatment costs. On July 18th, Crate Escape, a small family-run rescue in New York, stepped forward to take Jordyn! Crate Escape specializes in rescuing dogs from North Carolina who are in need of medical treatment and forever homes. Jordyn received her heartworm treatment on July 25th and 26th.

Heather Pensabene of Crate Escape shared this with us about Jordyn: “She is sweet, calm and laid back. She will follow her people everywhere, and is a social butterfly with children and other pups! Some of Jordyn’s hobbies include going for car rides, enjoying the outdoors and playing with her canine friends. She also loves belly rubs, hugs and hearing the words ‘Good Girl!’ Her disposition could not be better, and she constantly has her tail wagging to prove it!” Click here to view more photos of Jordyn.

RADAR paid $250 towards Jordyn’s heartworm treatment costs.
