As just another typical brown dog, Kaylynn blended in with all the other shelter dogs. But Kaylynn was so much more than just another brown dog! This adorable, one to two-year-old Shepherd mix was brought to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina by animal control on November 11th. Kaylynn tested heartworm positive after her arrival, which really hurt her chances of being rescued or adopted at this rural shelter. On January 7th, Kaylynn was placed on the shelter’s “put to sleep” list for January 13th.
On January 11th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, reported that Kaylynn had tentative rescue interest. TreeTops Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania would take Kaylynn, but only if her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. We agreed to help, and Kaylynn was safe! She received her heartworm treatment on January 21st.
Susan had a ton to say about sweet Kaylynn, “She is a wiggly delight! Kaylynn is so happy to see you that she can’t contain herself. She loves to bounce and play, and she invites other dogs to join in her games. Kaylynn is as cute as a button with her short legs and her perky style. She loves being with people. Kaylynn is attentive and responsive, and should be easy to train. Friendly and smiley faced, this girl will make a super companion!” To view more photos of Kaylynn, click here.
RADAR paid all of Kaylynn’s heartworm treatment costs, totaling $252.
