The grandkids were coming to visit, so Kes had to go. Kes was surrendered to the Surry County Animal Control shelter in North Carolina on June 27th. The owner of Kes was afraid that the one-year-old grandchild might try to play with Kes and pull her tail and get hurt by Kes by accident. Two years old and a Bully Breed mix, Kes had the misfortune to test heartworm positive. Unlike strays, there is no hold period for owner surrenders, which meant that Kes could be euthanized at any time.
On June 30th, Mayberry 4 Paws in North Carolina, an organization that helps facilitate and find rescues for the at-risk dogs at this shelter, sought RADAR’s help for Kes (who was originally named Chloe). We agreed to assist with her heartworm treatment costs. The rescue Nadias Haven of Hope Foundation in North Carolina came forward to take Kes! She had her heartworm treatment done on August 16th.
Little did Kes know when she went to her foster home that it would become her forever home. Her forever mom told us that in just a few days with her, Kes learned lots of house manners. Kes enjoys relaxing and watching Animal Planet! Click here to view more photos of Kes.
RADAR paid $300 towards the heartworm treatment costs for Kes.
