Kino is unique mix of Brittany Spaniel and Corgi, but with Basset Hound feet! This four-year-old boy was picked up as a stray on September 12th and taken to the Rowan County Animal Shelter in Kentucky. He might be a sibling to Kirby, who arrived as a stray at the shelter on September 13th.
Our partners at STAR (Saving The Animals of Rowan) were able to find a rescue to take both Kino and Kirby! But then both dogs were found to be heartworm positive. So both will need heartworm treatment before going on to their new rescue home. For more photos of Kino, click here.
STAR has been overwhelmed by recent record medical expenses. When RADAR heard of their plight, we offered to assist with both Kino and Kirby.
RADAR agreed to pay the costs for both dogs to be neutered the last week of September through STAR’s partnership with the Morehead State University Veterinary Technician Program (MSU-VTP). The cost of Kino’s neutering was $65.
With the heartworm treatment expected to be about $200 for each dog, RADAR offered a matching challenge to STAR’s donors: if they raised $100 for each dog, RADAR would cover the other $100.
RADAR has committed to covering Kino’s neutering cost of $65 and $100 towards his heartworm treatment.
