The future was anything but crystal clear for Krystal. This two-year-old Border Collie mix was brought to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina by animal control on November 14th. Krystal had two strikes against her: she was heartworm positive and a black dog. With no adopter or rescue interest, Krystal’s holiday season was not a happy one. In the first week of the New Year, she was placed on the shelter’s Put To Sleep list.
Krystal received a stay of execution when One Life to Live Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania expressed interest in taking her, but only if her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, reached out to us for help. We immediately agreed, and Krystal was safe! She had her heartworm treatment done on January 28th.
We learned this about Krystal from Susan: “She’s elegant and classy. Krystal is graced with a bubbly and sparkling personality. She’s polite with everyone she meets. Krystal is a medium energy lady, who is happy to simply hang by your side and give you gentle kisses. A wonderful mixer and mingler with other dogs, it’s hard to catch this friendly lady without a grin on her face and a tail steadily beating back and forth!” To view more photos of Krystal, click here.
RADAR paid all of Krystal’s heartworm treatment costs totaling $252.
