Hello! I’m Levi, a seven-year-old Lab mix. Don’t be fooled by my age, I’ve got plenty of energy–sometimes so much that I just have to run around like crazy! I heard someone call that a zoomie. I ended up at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on October 9th. My owners said they couldn’t take care of me anymore, so they turned me in to the shelter. Even though I was sad about that, I enjoyed making some new friends at the shelter. I couldn’t stay there forever though, so I needed to find someone who could rescue or adopt me. But I had a couple of things that were holding me back, like being a senior and testing positive for heartworms.
Then on November 22nd, Long Trail Canine Rescue in way up in Vermont expressed interest in taking me! But there was just one hitch: the cost of my heartworm treatment. Luckily, Susan Blakeney with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue knew just what to do. She asked a group called RADAR for help, and they agreed! Hooray! I got my heartworm treatment done on November 27th.
Folks at the shelter described me as being very affectionate and sweet. They said I was a really nice boy. I get along with both male and female dogs very well. I was even used to test the temperament of other dogs. And, I do not bother cats. I am just a very well-behaved, sweet gentleman! Click here to view more photos of me!
RADAR paid all of Levi’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $321.
