Lilly’s life was on the line. This eight-month-old Hound mix, along with her sister Gracie, arrived at the Harnett County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on June 16th. Lilly was extremely shy and closely bonded with Gracie. With no rescue or adopter interest, Lilly and Gracie were scheduled to be euthanized on June 24th at 1:30 pm.
At 12:58 pm on June 24th, Open Hearts Rescue in Virginia sent us an urgent request for assistance with Lilly. If we could help the rescue with Lilly’s vetting costs, the rescue would take both Lilly and Gracie. We committed to assist at 1:14 pm. A few minutes later Lilly and Gracie were safe with their rescue commitment. That same day they went to the vet for their initial vetting and spaying.
Ashley from Open Hearts Rescue shared this with us about Lilly: “She has obviously had a rough start in life. Lilly is unsure of her new surroundings and who she can trust. She is very bonded with her sister Gracie, and rarely leaves her side. For now, Lilly will remain with her loving foster family so they can show her the better side of life, and hopefully help her overcome her fear.” To view more photos of Lilly, click here.
RADAR paid $150 towards Lilly’s initial vetting and spaying costs.
