It would have been beyond silly not to save Miss Lilly! Two to three years old and a Sheltie mix, Lilly arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on February 28th. She was an owner surrender. Sadly, Lilly’s owner was no longer able to care for her. The only obstacle to getting Lilly safe with a rescue was her heartworm status: she had tested positive.
On March 16th, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, asked for our assistance to secure Lilly’s rescue. To Love a Canine Rescue in Pennsylvania would take Lilly if her heartworm treatment costs could be provided. We immediately agreed. Lilly’s heartworm treatment took place on April 1st.
Shelter volunteers described Lilly as being super sweet and a bit humble. They said her feelings got hurt when a cat swatted at her face! In the case of this lovely lady, one picture is worth a thousand words. To see more photos of Lilly, click here.
RADAR paid all of Lilly’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $243.
