Lizzie was in a tizzy until RADAR’s donors came to the rescue for her rescue! This two to three-year-old Dalmatian mix arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on August 29th. Lizzie was another heartbreaking case of a dog being surrendered by her owner. Since Lizzie was heartworm positive, she was all the more at risk. Lizzie ended up on the shelter’s PTS (Put To Sleep) list.
Through the tireless efforts of the volunteers with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, a rescue was found for Lizzie! Caring for Creatures would take Lizzie if her heartworm treatment costs were covered. Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, contacted us on September 23rd to see if we could help. We turned to our donors with an appeal, and a few hours later all the funds needed for Lizzie were raised!
On October 1st, Lizzie had her heartworm treatment done. Susan told us this about Lizzie: “She is such a happy girl! She is happy to go for a walk (and has great leash skills). She is happy to sit and enjoy a quiet petting session. And, she is happy for any chance to roll around in the grass!” To see more photos of Lizzie, click here.
RADAR paid all of Lizzie’s heartworm treatment costs totaling $200.
