Like any self-respecting Lab, you gotta love water and, boy, likable Louie does just that! This three to four-year-old was picked up by animal control on June 6th and taken to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. He had an ear injury, for which he was treated. He was also heartworm positive, for which he would need to be treated.

On August 12th, Maple Leaf Mutts in Vermont expressed interest in taking Louie. However, his heartworm treatment costs needed to be covered. Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, knew just what to do: ask us! We agreed and Louie was safe. He received his heartworm treatment on August 14th.

“A well-mannered fellow, Louie is calm and polite,” we were told. “He is patient and respectful in meeting other dogs. A friendly, social lab, Louie is no limp leash kind of guy, but will keep a steady pace to maximize areas of exploration! Louie is a happy, pleasant fellow who is excellent at making new friends.” To see more photos of Louie, click here.

RADAR paid all $313 of the heartworm treatment costs for Louie.
