Luke is looking for a saint to provide him with a long-overdue forever home. This very sweet, very old (13 years) and very skinny (15 lb.) Beagle was surrendered by his owner to the Rowan County Animal Shelter in Kentucky on January 2nd.
Considering the condition Luke was in, and the likely miserable life he had, it was actually a good thing he ended up at the shelter. Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers at STAR (Saving The Animals of Rowan), Luke finally got the necessary care he needed, including getting dewormed, bathed, ears cleaned and treated, and plenty of TLC.
RADAR agreed to cover the costs for Luke’s initial vetting, neutering and dental care, which was done the week of January 14th as part of STAR’s partnership with the Morehead State University Veterinary Technician Program. Luke tested negative for heartworm.
The volunteers at STAR reported this about Luke: “He is like a new dog since his dental work. He is eating like crazy, and has been so waggy that we keep telling him that he is going to take off like a helicopter if he wags any faster! He is loving life now, and is so sweet.” Click here for more photos of Luke.
RADAR paid all of Luke’s $65 bill for his initial vetting, neutering and dental care.
