Hi, I’m Lulu! But sometimes they call me “Dances for Treats” because my nose is exceptionally keen for sniffing out tasty treats, and when I find them I do a wiggle-jiggle and then stand up on my hind legs to get some! I’m a five-year-old Hound mix. I was homeless until animal control found me on June 16th and took me to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. What a noisy and crowded place. I wanted to get out of there, but I learned that I had heartworms. Yuck! No rescue wanted to take me. On July 28th, I got the dreaded news that my name was on the shelter’s “put to sleep” list for August 3rd. Help!

Little did I know that a very nice lady named Susan Blakeney with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue was trying to save me. She asked a group called RADAR for their help. RADAR provided a grant offer to cover my heartworm treatment if a rescue would take me. On August 2nd, with only one day to spare, Faithful Friends Animal Society in Delaware said they would take me! I had my heartworm treatment on August 23rd. Thank goodness that’s done. My rescue will take care of my cherry eye.

What can I tell you about me? Well, I am as sweet as sugar and just the tiniest bit shy, but I love people and should make a great family dog. Other dogs are fine by me. I prefer a house with a yard to stretch my legs, and if another doggy or two is already in residence, that would be grand. Oh, and I require an ample supply of treats please so I can practice my dancing and other tricks! I am a happy-go-lucky girl looking to join a like-minded, easygoing family. RADAR paid all of Lulu’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $188.
