We’re mad about Madden! This seven-year-old Retriever-German Shepherd mix arrived at the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on July 9th. With Madden being a stray, not much was known about his history. Unfortunately, there was no denying that his chances of finding a rescue or adopter were lessened because he was a senior, and even more so because he was heartworm positive.
Mary Lou Seymour with Shelter Animals Advocates (SAA) in South Carolina contacted us to see if we could help with Madden. If we could provide assistance with the cost of his heartworm treatment, SAA would pull him from the shelter and he’d be one step closer to safety. We agreed to help, and Madden got his treatment on August 1st!
Don’t be fooled by Madden’s age; he’s got lots of energy and he loves to play! We also learned from the shelter that Madden loves to take walks and spend time in the sunshine. “This boy also likes to give doggy kisses when you visit him,” folks at the shelter said. RADAR paid all $349 of the heartworm treatment costs for Madden.
