Forget about Dolley Maddison, we have Doggy Maddison! This one to two-year-old Corgi-Border Collie mix arrived on January 14th at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Maddison and her sister Madonna were surrendered by their owner because she was no longer physically able to care for the dogs. Unfortunately, Maddison tested heartworm positive (Madonna tested negative).
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue volunteers, on January 27th, Tree Tops Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take Maddison if her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, turned to us for assistance, and we agreed.
Maddison’s heartworm treatment took place on March 4th. We learned this about Maddison from Susan: “She is a happy, high-spirited dog. She has some respect for cats, and will pull back if the cat gives her “the eye.” Maddison is kid friendly. She is a stunning little lady!” To view more photos of Maddison, click here.
RADAR paid all of Maddison’s heartworm treatment costs totaling $194.
